Lakeside Toys All Steel Aquaphibian Terror Fish

Here we have an amazing, very scarce, original vintage, Mint in Box, Aquaphibian Terror Fish, #8607, made by A.P. Films, Ltd., Japan for Lakeside Toys, Minneapolis, MN, circa 1966, from the popular British Children's TV Series Stingray created by Gerry Anderson. A terrific addition to your collection.

The TV show, which now has a cult following similar to Star Trek, first aired in October, 1964 and ran thru June, 1965. However, it has been re-released many times since then and is still shown on BBC2. This Sci-Fi series featured animation known as Supermarionation, created and mastered by Gerry Anderson. Stingray was the story of a super-advanced submarine that was used for the most important underwater missions of WASP (World Aquanaut Security Patrol). The story was set in the year 2064. The main villain, Titan, had slave aquaphibian minions who controlled submarines disguised as deadly missle toting mechanical fish known as the Terror Fish.

This all steel toy fish is friction powered with moving eyes, mouth and tail and measures approx. 9" long. It is in Excellent working condition, clean and very bright with no rust, but some minor scratches, original box is included. As seen on page 249 as well as on the back inside cover of 20th Century Antiques: Over 250 of the Best Modern Antiques, (2003) by Martin Miller. Original Box is in Good+ condition with minor edge wear, some corner wear, surface tear to printed word graphics on one side (see picture #11), and minor creases. A wonderful example of a very collectible vintage toy, offered to you with no reserve.
